Exciting Adoption Update!

After 13 months of virtually silence, we received an incredibly exciting phone call today from our adoption agency.

The IBESR in Haiti has requested that we pay them a fee, so they can release our formal referral. We immediately mailed a check to our adoption agency this morning and our Haiti Director was going to wire a payment today to the IBESR. This is the very last step before receiving the official referral! We can now expect our phone to ring, literally any day now, telling us we have the official referral. Once we receive this long awaited phone call, Clayton and I will travel immediately to Haiti, so we can meet our 3 sons!

We are so close to receiving the official referral and we are so, so excited for this next massive step in our adoption journey.

Answered Prayer.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for praying this past week! God has answered our prayers in a mighty way. 

The Haitian Children's Judge signed our documents!!!  

Praise Jesus!  

This very moment, our dossier is sitting at the IBESR, waiting for them to attach our dossier to the boys file and issue us, the 'official referral.' This is the last step to receiving the referral. Once we have the referral, Clayton and I leave for Haiti, so we can go meet our 3 little men!

When I (Kim) read the email this morning from our Haiti Director, letting us know that the Judge had signed our documents, I started to cry. I was in my car, stopped at a stop sign in our neighborhood when I got the email. I could not stop the tears.  There is much, much more to this Judge process than what we are allowed to share and the details of this process made me cry. Tears of joy, tears of sadness for all that our boys have been through, but mostly, tears of joy, that God has heard our prayers and the prayers of so many of you, praying for our adoption. 

This week, please pray specifically for the IBESR to match our dossier to the boys file and issue our family the formal referral! As I said last week, this process can take months and months, but God has proven yet again, that He is on the Throne and has granted us a major milestone, in only 1 weeks time. 1 week! Only God!  

Our adoption agency (America World Adoption) as well as the boys orphanage (Chances for Children) are pushing very, very hard for the IBESR to issue the formal referral.  

Your prayers matter, every single prayer matters and is so appreciated. We are so grateful for every single person praying for our boys, our adopting process and our family as we wait. Do not stop praying.

January- A month of waiting...

We wanted to say, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to those who have been donating and sharing our adoption journey on social media. We are so appreciative when you share our story!

Currently, our dossier is before a Haitian Children's Judge. The Judge needs to sign our dossier, so that it can go back to the IBESR, for formal matching, which leads to the formal referral being issued for our #littlemenmeyer. Once we get this referral, Clayton and I will immediately travel to Haiti to meet our boys.

Here is how you can pray specifically for us this week. PLEASE  pray that God would speed this process along. This process alone, could take months and months to be completed. Please join us in praying that our dossier would be expedited and a sense of urgency would be felt by every single person that is involved in bringing our adoption to completion.

For the last 2 years, we have been committed and working hard towards bringing our adoption to completion and now, we are even more committed to bringing our 3 boys home!  I (Kim) would feel such discouragement each time we were delayed. So.Many.Many.Delays. So many tears and such frustration with each delay.

Now, looking back, we can see why God put those delays in our adoption journey. Had we not been delayed, we would not have been at the perfect spot, at the perfect time, to notice our boys photo and jump at the chance to adopt them. The boys situation was a little complicated, but because of all our delays, we were exactly where we needed to be. Only God!! Only God could have orchestrated the timing of our family with the timing of connecting with our boys.

Our 1st Adoption Grant Opportunity!!!

We have some very EXCITING news to share with you! 

Our family has been selected by Lifesong For Orphans, to receive a $5,000 matching adoption grant, from the Karis Adoption Fund! If we can raise $5,000, we will receive the full $5,000 grant!! 

Our family is so, so excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity from the Karis Adoption Fund, to help us raise the money we need to bring our 3 #littlemenmeyer home from Haiti! 

We would be so grateful if you would share our adoption journey with your social media friends and followers. Right now, we are anxiously waiting for the phone call that says we have the 'official referral' so we can travel immediately to Haiti and go meet our 3 boys. In order for this to happen, we need $20,000 on hand just to accept the referral and then about $5,000 for travel expenses for our 14 day bonding trip. The Beginning of #LITTLEMENMEYER

We are Clayton and Kim Meyer from Edmond, Oklahoma and our family is 2 years into a journey of adopting 3 Haitian brothers, our 'Little Men Meyer.' Our boys are 15,12 & 10. God has given us a passion to offer love and hope to the lost and forgotten of the world. Please consider joining us in this long and difficult journey to bring these three brothers home together.

Journey Began

Over the last 3 years we have had 5 painful miscarriages in between God blessing us with 2 miracle babies. While dating 15 years ago, we both shared that we had a passion to adopt a child from a 3rd world country. After the miscarriages, we knew God was leading us to start the adoption process.

Our adoption journey began in December of 2013, believing that God wanted us to adopt a boy, under the age of 3, from Haiti.  In June 2015, our Haiti Director posted in our private Facebook group a picture of 2 adorable boys who were 10 and 12 years old. The boys had been on a waiting child list for several years. Something immediately happened in Kim’s heart when she saw this picture. Over the last 22 months we have seen countless photos of waiting children, watched dozens of hard, emotional videos of children in Haitian orphanages, but nothing had ever moved Kim like this photo. She could not stop thinking about these boys and we felt God moving us to request additional information. Once we received additional information, we were heartbroken for what these brothers have been through. 

Our Decision

We prayed, fasted and sought wise counsel and knew God wanted us to pursue adopting these two boys. We have nicknamed them our 'Little Men Meyer.'  We were given a 'soft referral' by the orphanage Director and submitted our dossier to the Haitian IBESR specifically for our little men.  

About 4 weeks after we received our 'soft referral', the 

orphanage Director contacted our Haiti Director with a very hard question for us.  Would we consider adopting the boys’ older brother as well, before he ages out of the adoption system? Once he turns 16, he is no longer adoptable. He turns 16 in December.  A family had been pursuing adopting the oldest, but they were unable to get their dossier completed fast enough so we were now being asked to adopt all 3 boys. 

We prayed and prayed and prayed for many weeks. We sought Godly counsel and knew, God wanted us to say YES! So, we are now pursuing the 3 brothers! Without a doubt, this has been the hardest decision we have ever had to make!

We need to receive the 'formal referral' for the oldest brother, before the end of December or else we are not able to adopt him and he will age out of the system.  Please pray that we would receive the referral before he ages out! We want to keep our boys together.  If we do not receive a referral by his birthday, we will continue on and adopt the younger two brothers.

At this time, the Haitian IBESR will not allow us to share the boys’ names or pictures with you, but we look forward to the day that we can. 

Our Need

We have a lot of money to raise in order to bring our 'little men' home!  We do not know where all of the funds needed to bring our 3 boys home, are going to come from, but we are relying on God. We thought raising the necessary funds for 1 child was going to be hard! Ha, 3 is HUGE!   

Our Haiti Director said we have a good chance of receiving the official referral for the boys before the oldest brother's 16th birthday. Once again, we are relying on God's timing, not ours. We do not have much time to raise the money needed to bring the 3 boys home but we know our adoption is in God's hands, not ours. If the Haitian IBESR is unable to issue us a formal referral by December 25th, we will only be able to adopt the younger two. 

We need to raise $55,000 in order to bring our 3 little men home.  As of today, we have paid $18,500 in adoption expenses.  If we receive the official referral for the 3 boys, we need to pay $22,000 in order to accept the referral, plus have about $6,500 ready for our 14 day bonding trip.  We are required to travel for the bonding trip within 2 weeks of receiving the official referral. The remaining fees will be due after the bonding trip.  

Prayer Request

• Please pray for our family as we continue on in our adoption journey.

• The safety and well-being of our little men. 
• That we would receive the grants we are applying for.

Little Man Meyer is now Little Men Meyer!

This is a rather long post but we really wanted our family and friends to hear all that went into such a big decision for our family... 

On June 3, 2015 my life was forever changed in a single moment.  It was the end of the day and I was laying in bed getting ready to shut my light off when a post on our private Facebook Haiti adoption page got my attention. It was a post from the Director of our adoption agency and she shared a photo and asked all of us adoptive families to pray that a forever home could be found.  I looked at this photo and immediately something happened in my heart.  Out of nowhere I was so overcome with emotion, I had tears streaming down my face, just from this one photo.

Once I stopped the tears, I got out of bed and showed the photo to Clayton who was watching tv in the living room.  He smiled when he saw the picture and commented on how cute it was. We went to bed and I prayed a forever home would be found.  The next day I could not stop thinking about this photo.  I looked at it several times through out the day and I wish I could express the emotions I felt every single time I looked at it.  Later that afternoon I texted Clayton and asked if he would mind if I emailed our Haiti Director asking for more info about the picture.  He immediately texted back saying that it was fine.  We have been in the adoption process for 18 months and have NEVER done anything like this.  I had never asked Clayton this question before so I honestly did not know what he would say but I just knew I needed to ask.  I have heard so many heartbreaking stories, seen so many pictures of precious kiddos who need to be adopted but NO picture had ever affected me like this one.  I sent the email asking for more info and went back to packing. 

We were packing to go camping for the weekend and I was so consumed with this picture that I eventually had to stop packing and go to my favorite place to pray. I knelt down and prayed for God's wisdom. Were these feelings from Him? Why was I being an emotional basket case? How did He want to use this picture in our lives?  After praying for awhile, I had the confirmation from God that we needed to pursue a little more.  Ask more questions. Get more information.

We left to go camping for the weekend and we were setting the tent up when I got an email back with more information.  Jett and Keira were running around the campsite playing while I read the email.  I was immediately fighting the tears away.  My heart was now truly broken.  Now that we had this info all I could ask was, "what do we do with it God?"  Over the last 18 months of waiting for our Little Man, I have prayed that God would give me the same maternal instincts and love for our Little Man that I have for my biological children.  I kept wondering to myself if what I was feeling was because this photo was meant for me?! Was this the maternal instinct and love that I had been praying for?  I prayed the entire time we were camping and the following week Clayton and I prayed frequently asking God for direction and wisdom.  

When our home-study was completed back in August 2014, we were approved for 1 little boy, aged 1 to 3 years old.  We needed to update our home-study by the end of August 2015 in order to keep it current and after this picture, we wanted to make the necessary changes just in case God was asking us to pursue any further.  To have our home-study changed in order to be approved for the faces in the picture would be extremely difficult!  We knew it would be only God who could make this happen!  You see, the picture that I saw was nothing like what we imagined our "Little Man" would look like.  The precious faces in the photo that stole my heart were 2 brothers, who are 10 & 11 yrs old!  Only God!!

We were right in the middle of leading a marriage study with our Lifegroup called, "You and Me Forever" by Francis & Lisa Chan when all of this was happening.  This marriage study is pretty much the main reason we were even considering pursuing these boys.  Francis & Lisa Chan had hit me to my core about what I believed my life looked like as a Christian and what I was spending my life pursuing.  Was I going to spend my life focused on myself and my families happiness or was I going to pursue serving and loving God first and foremost.  If God was to ask you to do something hard, would you trust Him over your fears about how your family would be affected by this service to God?  It really challenged me in such a good way.  Hence, we are in this situation being presented with the biggest decision of our entire lives. Would we be willing to trust God through adopting 2 older boys even though there were so many reasons to be afraid and say no?! !

Clayton and I have prayed extensively, asking God for His direction and leading. We fasted, prayed and asked our Lifegroup to pray for us.  The moment we realized that God might be asking us to pursue these precious boys, we immediately asked our Lifegroup to pray for us. We knew they would pray earnestly for us.  We were able to talk it over quite openly with our Lifegroup, explaining all the pros and cons and they were such an encouragement to me.  Not one person in our group tried to talk us out of it but rather asked questions, prayed with us and encouraged us to seek God.  

I felt God telling me to seek wise Godly counsel so I stayed after church and spoke to my Pastors wife, Cindy Beall.  My goodness, she is such a Godly woman!  I knew she would give me wisdom straight from God.  I explained what was going on and she listened intently and then she told me to ask God for one word, a promise that I could stand on.  A one word promise, not a huge explanation saying 'why' He wanted us to do this but, one word that would give clarity.  She gave me other bits of advice but the 'one word' was what God had stand out to me.  I had tears rolling down my face as we spoke and then she hugged me and prayed.  That night and then the next morning I prayed specifically asking God for one word. While sitting on the couch with my Bible open, the most incredible moment with God took place.  Not only did He quietly whisper one word, but He gave me a specific Bible verse and I kid you not, the second He gave me my word and verse, the next 2 songs on my radio were 100% about the word He had given me! Talk about an answer straight from God! 

Over the last 8 weeks we have had some pretty big obstacles to overcome if God wanted us to pursue the boys. We had to complete more training, submit lots of paperwork and spend hours on phone calls and at Dr appointments. All this just to see if this is truly what God wanted for our family.

This photo was in my news feed on Facebook  just moments before I saw the photo of the boys. Coincidence? Definitely not! God was using this picture to encourage me to have faith in Him right from the very beginning!

This past week we got the answer we have been praying and waiting for. It was a YES!!  We have been approved and are now allowed to pursue our boys!  We are so excited to share that we are officially pursuing our 'Little Men Meyer'!! 

We do know their names and have 1 photo of them but are not allowed to share them.  We love their Haitian names and have no intention of changing them. They are losing absolutely everything they know and we do not want to take their names from them as well.  We do not know when we will get to go meet them or when they will be home but we do know it will be in Gods timing. We have A LOT of money to raise and save now that we have 2 kiddos to bring home and are praying that God will provide every single dollar we need. 

We are currently waiting to get the official copy of our updated home-study which should arrive this week and then we will be able to submit the request to change our immigration form in order to adopt 2 children.  Once that immigration form is signed and translated, our dossier will be submitted to the IBESR! Once in the IBESR, we wait until they issue us a formal 'referral' for the boys.  Right now what we have is a 'soft referral.'  Once the referral is issued, Clayton and I will travel immediately to Haiti to meet the boys and spend about 15 days bonding with them!  We are not allowed to have any contact with our Little Men until we have a formal referral. We are hopeful that because they are older waiting children, our dossier will be expedited.  Clayton and I are so very excited to begin this next chapter in our lives!  We hate that they have to spend another day living in an orphanage but we are trusting in God's timing, not ours.
